about us

Premium Fresh Tasmania is owned and operated by brothers Mike, Rick and Jim Ertler. The company's packing facility operates on the same site as the original family farm that was established over 55 years ago. Overseeing a staff of more than 140 people, the brothers are involved in every aspect of the business from growing and harvesting to packing and shipping our high quality vegetable products to market.

The company establishes partnerships with over 80 individual landholders every year who are painstakingly selected to ensure good crop rotations and provide land offering the best growing conditions available across the north of Tasmania. All aspects of crop production on each property are managed by Premium Fresh Tasmania. Premium Fresh Tasmania personnel prepare the land, plant and nuture the vegetables and then harvest each crop with company-owned machinery. Each crop is then transported back to the centrally-located packing facility at Forth to be diligently graded and packed prior to dispatch. Complete control of all processes from the field to the packing shed assures quality standards are always maintained. It also allows the opportunity to dispatch our products within hours of having been harvested. Partnerships with quality accredited transport providers also ensure our product reaches its destination in perfect condition, whether it is across Bass Strait or across the world.

At Premium Fresh Tasmania the emphasis has always been on meeting and exceeding customer expectations. This philosophy has driven the company to be leaders in product development and the use of innovative technologies from around the world. The company was amongst the first in Australia to import automated grading, weighing and packing machinery for its carrot line. The techniques used in harvesting and systematically controlling the curing of brown onions is unique amongst onion growers in the southern hemisphere and there are constant searches for new products or improved varieties to offer our customer base.
